Serving Northwest Indiana & Chicagoland for 20 Years...

XL Entertainment has been in the DJ Business performing at weddings, parties, and other social functions since 1996 (actually since 1986 if you count the High School & College years!). Founded by "Big Don" Kaminsky and his wife Lisa, XL performs annually at 25 to 30 Weddings and are proud to be a single operator service which means all events are planned & performed by Don & Lisa. You will never have a stranger show up to DJ your event. In 2006, local celebrity & DJ Jason "Hawse" Yurechko joined the XL Entertainment team and will make appearances upon request to MC wedding receptions with his unique flavor and style. I guess the most important thing there is to know "About Us", is if you hire us to throw you a party, you're going to have a great time!

FAQ - Answers to some of our most asked questions...

Will our DJ act as an Emcee during our event? Absolutely. This is one of the services we offer that is key to the success of your function. We will make all announcements and make sure that the night keeps on track according to your timeline.

What if you are sick, in an accident, abducted by Aliens (insert worst case scenario here) on the day of our wedding? Although we have not missed a wedding in over 20 years, we work with a wide network of local professional DJ’s that we could call upon to fill in for us at a moment's notice.

What types of equipment do you use? We use pro-grade JBL & QSC sound equipment, and Chauvet & ADJ Dance floor lighting. Our music library is digital and we have a wide selection of the newest top hits as well as a vast collection of some of the best music ever made. The DJ system is very attractive and unobtrusive and fits conveniently in tight spots if necessary. All we need is a 6 foot banquet table to set up on, preferably at the edge of the dance floor, and we are good to go!

Do you provide music and equipment for wedding ceremonies? Yes we can provide music and sound reinforcement for your Wedding Ceremony. Make sure to let us know that you will also need us for the Wedding Ceremony when you fill out your contact form.

How early will out DJ arrive to set up? We will arrive appx 2 hours prior to the scheduled start time of your event unless other arrangements have been made. It typically takes about forty-five minutes to set up so this allows us to be set up before guests arrive, sound check, etc.

What is your coverage area? We are located in Munster, IN and centrally located to pretty much all of Northwest Indiana & the Chicagoland area. So we cover a lot of ground!

Can we pick what music to play? Yes. We encourage all of our couples to submit a list of 20 or so songs in advance that you would like to hear at your reception. This is good because it not only gives us great songs to play, but also an idea of your musical tastes. We then take and feed off of your suggestions and guest requests to throw you an awesome party.

Can we pick what music not to play? Yes again. If there are songs you absolutely hate we definitely don’t want them on the playlist for your wedding. You may list these songs on our planning forms and rest assured you will not hear them.

Will you take guest requests? Absolutely! (As long as the songs are not on your “do not play” list) We’ll also encourage your guests to make requests (if you approve) to make sure we play the songs that you and your guests want to dance to (keyword… DANCE!).

Do you provide a written contract? It is extremely important to have your booking confirmed in writing. We will provide you with a written contract outlining the terms of your service. We will sign the contract and send you a copy to retain for your records. It is important to have a contract to guarantee your DJ services. I would never suggest booking any DJ service without a written contract.

Will you be available to answer questions prior to our Wedding? Yes. We will meet with you in advance in to discuss the details of your wedding entertainment. In addition you will have our cell phone number and can call me us any time with any additional questions prior to your Wedding date. You can call as many times as you like we are always available.

What type of music do you play? We have an extensive selection of music consisting of Top 40, Club, Classic Rock, Country, Oldies, Big Band, Motown, R & B, Rap, Disco, and Hip-Hop. We have everything from the 1940’s to today’s top hits, so there is something for all age groups. We will discuss with you in advance what types of music you want played during your Wedding and we will play only those types of music.

What types of music do you play during dinner and cocktail hour? We have a wide selection of cocktail and dinner music in my music library. We can discuss in advance what types of music you want us to play during this time. We typically suggest a nice mix of new and old easy listening type tunes (no sleepy music though) at low volumes so your guests can socialize during this time.

Do you have backup equipment? Definitely! Fortunately in all of our years in business we have not had an equipment issue at an event, but we carry a full backup PA system with us to each event just in case.

Do you carry Liability Insurance? Yes we do. $1,000,000 worth! Please let us know 4 to 6 weeks in advance if your venue requires a Liability Certificate.

How do we book your DJ services? Call us, or fill out our online contact request form so we can discuss your entertainment needs and we take it from there. If everything works out, you will get a signed contract and a booking confirmation.

How far in advance do we need to book our DJ services? Most couples usually book 8 to 12 months prior to their reception to secure their date. However we have been called upon with much less notice than that :)

Do you charge for mileage or set up? We do not charge for mileage or set up. The contracted price includes travel, set up and take down time. Our pricing is inclusive of travel.
